Recess week - film review

The Island
In this film, a cloning industry cloned people for rich men in order to get the organs produced by cloning persons. These cloning people all dreamed to go to an island which was called “the last clean island for humans” without knowing that they were not real men. When the dream of Ewan McGregor (main character) came true, he was excited. At the same time, he felt something unhappy was on the way. After a short time, he found out that they were not real human beings. What was worse was that going to the island meant to be killed for their organs. After knowing these facts, he decided to help all the cloning people escape from going to that island. During the fighting, he fell in love with Lincoln Six-Echo who was a cloning person as well. After a hard time of fighting, they succeeded and had their own freedom in the end. After watching this film, I am impressed by Ewan McGregor with her courage and brightness as a model of modern women. She believes that woman can make dreams come true by their own talents, which can makes women more independent in modern world. Furthermore, this film also indicates the importance of living healthily since all conflicts rising in this film are due to get healthy organs. Being an independent person and living healthily are two points I learn from this film. I would like to recommend this film.

Paragraph I: Compare and Contrast

Although emotional intelligence is required for all human beings in their daily life, it may vary among different professions of different fields. Taking athletes and doctors as examples, both of them need high emotional intelligence in their working circumstances. However, different aspects of emotional intelligence are required by athletes and doctors respectively. Being athletes requires more intrapersonal emotional intelligence than that of doctors. Firstly, self-awareness as one aspect of intrapersonal skills is highly required by athletes. In other words, athletes need to be conscious of what his/her athletic level is in order to make improvement. Secondly, athletes need more self-motivations to overcome obstacles and cope with stresses in their hard training processes. Furthermore, courage, perseverance and passion which belong to intrapersonal emotional intelligence are more needed for athletes than doctors. In contrast, doctors need more interpersonal skills than intrapersonal skills. First, due to their frequent communication with the patients, doctors have to be able to understand their patients’ feelings and manage the patients’ moods. Second, doctors need to work cooperatively with each other during a treatment or an operation which requires more interpersonal skills to success. In conclusion, to be successful in both areas, both of athletes and doctors should have high emotional intelligence though there may be different aspects of emotional intelligence required respectively.
